Do you like to travel but don’t always have a readily available travel companion?  It can be a bit daunting traveling to a foreign country alone; going through customs, finding transportation, safe lodging, making dining and sightseeing arrangements, not to mention language barriers.

Come travel along with Public Radio 90 and let Collette Vacations and Holiday Travel Vacations take all the work and worry out of your travel plans.

It’s a fun way to travel on your own without being alone.

Valli At The Cemetery - "The Third Man" 1949 This film takes place in post-World War II Vienna, Austria

I am a bit of a film nut.  I was the president of Northern Michigan University's alternative film group "Gonzo Media" for a while when I was an undergrad.  That love of film has stuck with me, and one film I hold dear to my heart is the 1949 film noir "The Third Man," directed by Carol Reed, and stars Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, and Orson Welles.  We are dropped into post-World War II Vienna with American novelist Holly Martins, who was given a job by his friend Harry Lime.  Unfortunately he learns quickly that Harry Lime is dead; the

One of our stops in Prague will be at the Lobkowicz Palace in the sprawling Prague Castle complex, and home to the largest and finest art collection in the Czech Republic spanning over 600 years of family history.

After a delightful lunch we’ll gather in the palace’s elegant Baroque concert hall for a mid-day Classical music concert featuring the likes of Mozart, Bach, Dvorak and Smetana.

From Mozart to Falco, Vienna is rich with inspiration for composers of all kinds of music.

When I travel one of my favorite things to do is experience the local cuisine, which is what I’m most looking forward to on our trip to Prague, Vienna and Budapest.

I’ve been doing lots of research about the traditional foods of these countries and I can’t wait to start eating my way across each country.

These are some of my “must try” foods I hope to experience when we travel through Budapest.   They are taken from an article called “25 Foods You Gotta Try in Budapest’ written by Wendy Hung for

Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]) is a former imperial summer residence located in Vienna, Austria. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the country. Since the mid-1950s it has been a major tourist attraction. The history of the palace and its vast gardens spans over 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

While in Prague, consider taking a detour to the Lapidarium, a museum located in a summer palace on the exhibition area Výstaviště in Prague 7 - Holešovice.  It houses valuable stone sculptures dating from the 11th to the 20th century.  The museum has a collection of around 2000 artifacts, 420 of which are on permanent display in eight halls of approximative area of 1500 square meters.
