Dead cougar found north of Iron Mountain

DICKINSON COUNTY, MI--   A dead cougar has been found in Dickinson County, and the Department of Natural Resources is looking for information. 

The male cougar was found by conservation officers Monday around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Johnson Road and County Road 607 in Breitung Township. 

Anyone with information regarding the cat is asked to call 1st Lieutenant Pete Wright at the Marquette DNR office at 228-6561, ext. 3028, or the DNR Report All Poaching Line at 800-292-7800.

Information may be left anonymously.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
