Deer causes crash in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Marquette Township. 

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Tuesday around 12:50 p.m. on County Road 550 just north of the Little Garlic River. Leslie Cory, 58, of Marquette was southbound on 550 when she saw a deer. Trying to avoid the deer, Cory ran off the road, went into the ditch, and struck a tree.

She was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
