Girl injured in car-bicycle accident in Ironwood

IRONWOOD, MI--   An Ironwood girl is hospitalized, after she was struck by a car while riding her bike. 

WLUC-TV reports the 9-year-old was riding her bicycle at the intersection of Cloverland Drive and Lake in the city Monday when the accident happened. 

Officials say oncoming traffic had a green light at the time.

The girl was taken to a Duluth hospital for treatment.  Her name has not yet been released. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
