Workers to pave at night in Hancock

HANCOCK, MI--   Nighttime paving is set to begin Sunday for a 2.5-mile stretch of US-41 in Hancock.

The highway between M-203 and Lake Annie Road will be paved from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night through September 4. The work is being done in off-hours to minimize impacts on traffic.

It’s part of a $5.4 million Michigan Department of Transportation project to resurface nearly 10 miles of US-41 from Quincy Street in Hancock to Agent Street in Calumet. Work includes asphalt resurfacing and widening, concrete curb and gutter installation, sidewalk ramps, and pavement markings.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
