Brits and Brews set for April 20

This April 20th the “Brits and Brews-Music of the British Invasion and Beyond” live music fundraiser will be back at the Ore Dock Brewing Co. in Marquette, with five bands and “open mic” performances, from 5 to 11 p.m.

Keeping with this year's theme, "British Innovation,” bands will look beyond the 1960s to explore the origins of heavy metal and punk rock. In addition, expect renditions of some of the most innovative, enduring and endearing songs that erupted from England beginning in the mid-‘60s, upending and forever changing popular music.

Five separate acts will be performing a great variety of songs by British bands, mainly from the 60s to 80s. The audience will hear covers of songs by many of the most influential British rock bands ever: Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Sex Pistols, the Police, Black Sabbath, Eurythmics, Def Leppard, the Rolling Stones, The Fixx, Deep Purple, the Kinks, Supertramp, and more.

Admission is by donation at the door. Suggested: $10. Proceeds from the Saturday night event will be donated to JJ Packs. This grass-roots group provides packages of nutritious food for Marquette students in all seven schools in the MAPS district who need extra food on weekends. Their work makes a tangible difference in the lives of many kids and families in our community.
