Noteworthy Concert to Feature Songs from Stage and Screen

Noteworthy Concert to Feature Songs from Stage and Screen

CALUMET--The women’s barbershop chorus Noteworthy will present its spring concert, "Songs from Stage and Screen," at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at Calumet United Methodist Church.

"We chose this music mainly because we love it and so do our audiences," said Noteworthy director Joan Petrelius-Harbour. "Plus, we've found some fantastic arrangements of award-winning songs that we can't wait to share."

The program includes "Fame," sung by Irene Cara in the 1980 movie of the same name; and "Shallow," sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who performed it in 2016 in "A Star Is Born." Both won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

Other favorites are also featured, such as Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King," Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns" and the Disney classic "Baby Mine."

There's no charge to attend Noteworthy concerts. Instead, a free-will offering is taken to support local charities. The beneficiary for this concert is the Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry. The pantry is located at The Office Shop and offers free food, including frozen meat, eggs and produce, to hundreds of needy local families.

Noteworthy welcomes new members. For more information, email noteworthychorus@gmail.com .
