Marquette Regional History Center presents:
4th Biennial Lake Superior Fiber Festival
Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:30am-4:00pm at the Marquette Regional History Center
Enjoy colorful displays of quilts, knits and other fiber arts. Watch several creative or educational demos, plus, submit your own creations to the Fashion Show! Win door prizes such as books, patterns, yarn and more. Take home free hands-on arts and crafts activities. Fun for all ages! Included with general admission fee.
Lake Superior Fiber Festival is an open-house event. Come anytime 9:30-4:30. Great for all ages including families, clubs and individuals. General admission fee will cover entry to the museum and to Fiber Festival. Sponsor level museum members and above receive free admission.

Fashion Show at Fiber Festival
October 4, 12:30pm
This will be a fun way to show your talents! Flaunt your socks, mittens, hats, sweaters, scarves,
shawls, purses and any other sewn, quilted, woven, felted, knitted, crocheted or embroidered
garments and accessories. This informal show will begin at 12:30pm and will last about 30
minutes. Consider wearing more than one handmade item. Children are welcome to participate.

Maps are a valuable tool for seeing history at work. Maps have been used as an aid to all types of transportation from steamboat routes to today’s single track bike trails. They are also used as a marketing tool, for reference, and entertainment. View maps of the Great Lakes and Marquette County. See how mapmakers have sometimes misled their viewers and how our landscape and surroundings have changed. For sale are bakery, home made frozen soup and cheese ravioli, pecans, knitted and crocheted items, jewelry, crafts and Rada knives. Homemade pie and coffee will be served.

Ink Society is an informal group of local writers that connect at the library monthly to discuss their current work, seek feedback, and share ideas. Bring your work and prepare to be inspired!
The Ink Society meets the first Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m.

NMU Conservation Crew is hosting a series of hikes in the month of October in recognition of HIKEoctober, a mental health initiative. $5 per 2-foot log

Participants will inoculate hardwood logs with shiitake mushroom spore plugs. The fungus slowly permeates the log over the next year or two and, when conditions are right, edible mushrooms blossom from the log. Suggested for ages 8-adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The CDC has recommended a Spring dose of COVID- 19 vaccine for those individuals 65 and older. The Marquette County Health Department offers vaccine appointments Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Please call to schedule an appointment and to check eligibility.
