Hearing scheduled in Iron River infant death case

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   A pretrial hearing is set for an Iron River woman charged in the death of a three-month-old baby. 

Police say Brittany Russell, 25, was caring for PennyAnn MacDonald at her house last June when the baby was injured.  The infant died three days later at a Milwaukee hospital.

Russell is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for July 13 in Iron County Circuit Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
