Goodreau found competent to move forward in court

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Norway man accused of shooting at troopers in February has been found competent to stand trial.   

Richard Goodreau, 49, allegedly shot the officers when they came to serve a warrant for first-degree criminal sexual conduct at his home.  Neither trooper was seriously injured. 

Goodreau is charged with assault with intent to murder, first-degree CSC, malicious destruction of police property, and felony firearms.  He’s scheduled to be arraigned in Dickinson County Circuit Court on August 17.   

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
