UPSET nabs four in Iron River

IRON RIVER, MI--   Four people were arrested on drug and weapons-related charges in Iron River Thursday.

After a month-long investigation, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team obtained information that resulted in a search warrant for a house on Blossom Avenue. Prior to executing the warrant detectives received a tip that the suspects possessed illegal narcotics and a loaded pistol. Since the house was near West Iron County High School the school was locked down until the suspects were taken into custody.

The search warrant uncovered prescription pills, evidence of drug distribution and two firearms. Two people were arrested for the distribution of cocaine and other drugs; two other suspects were arrested on probation violations.

All four are lodged in the Iron County Jail. The case remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
