Man busted for receiving meth in mail

HANCOCK, MI--   A Hancock man is jailed on drug charges after police caught him receiving drugs in the mail.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team says the warrant was the result of a controlled package delivery at the Chassell post office. Detectives received information that meth was being shipped to a post office box. They intercepted a package containing two ounces of crystal meth.

A 56-year-old Hancock man was arrested after he picked up the package.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s Franklin Street residence and his pickup truck. They found drug packaging, a scale, and electronics involved in the distribution of meth.

The suspect was lodged in the Houghton County Jail for possession with intent to distribute meth.

The case is being reviewed by the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office.
