Portions of Tahquamenon Falls State Park open again

NEWBERRY, MI--   The state says parts of Tahquamenon Falls State Park have reopened as crews make progress in controlling the Duck Lake Fire along the Lake Superior shoreline.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday that it has reopened the section of the park north of M-123.

A lightning strike caused the Duck Lake Fire, which has spread over 33 square miles in Luce County north of Newberry.  The DNR says the fire is about 76 percent contained.  The blaze has destroyed about 136 structures, including homes, outbuildings and campers.
