NEWBERRY, MI-- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is reminding those affected by the Duck Lake Fire in Luce County that the deadline to apply for certain assistance is approaching.
The Emergency Forest Restoration Program gives help to eligible owners of non-industrial forestland that’s been damaged by a natural disaster. Landowners could receive financial assistance up to 75 percent of the cost to implement restoration practices.
The deadline to apply is October 9. Landowners must contact Kaye Hillock-Vining at the Chippewa-Mackinac-Luce County FSA Service Center at 906-632-9611, extension 106 to begin the sign-up process as quickly as possible.
