RHINELANDER, WI (AP)-- Fans of the outdoors will have to wait a little longer before they can enjoy campgrounds and recreation trails in Wisconsin's Northwoods.
Ground conditions haven't dried enough at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. So officials are planning to keep recreation areas closed until at least mid-May.
Forestry officials say all trails will be closed until about May 22 due to the snow pack and wet conditions.
Trail and campground conditions will be assessed regularly. Updates will be posted to the forest's website.
The forest covers more than 1.5 million acres.
