T-shirts to raise money for Marquette parks

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette is launching a new merchandise program to benefit local parks and landmarks.

Last fall, the Department of Natural Resources implemented a program called These Goods Are Good for Michigan. Its aim is to create a public-private partnership by promoting businesses helping to create products that help fund state parks and connect outdoor enthusiasts with goods that interest them.

This weekend the City of Marquette is launching its own version, called These Goods Are Good for Marquette. It features two T-shirts designed by local artist That Girl Amber that depict Presque Isle Park and the Blackrocks.

The shirts will be available at Getz’s department store and LoyalTees in Marquette. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the city parks program.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
