McBroom/Moss FOIA bills move forward in the Senate

LANSING, MI— State Senator Ed McBroom is applauding committee approval of his sunshine bills.

Co-sponsored by Democratic Senator Jeremy Moss, the legislation would expand the application of the Freedom of Information Act to the Michigan Legislature, the governor, and the lieutenant governor.

The bills were favorably reported by the Senate Oversight Committee Wednesday. They now move to the full Senate for consideration.

McBroom says, "Transparency in our government is a necessary and important step in growing and restoring trust and confidence in our government and the people elected to it.”
