The Children's Concert takes place at Presque Isle's Bandshell on Thursday, July 13th, 2023

An interview with guest trumpet soloist Ryo Morita and conductor and artistic director Dr. Stephen Grugin

For over a century, the Marquette City Band has been entertaining the people of Marquette. They provide young musicians with the chance to play in a highly-advanced music group, while also offering adults the opportunity to continue playing beyond their high school or college ensembles.

As part of its mission to offer musical opportunities to people of all ages, the band provides Children's Concerts that cater to kids of every age. These concerts typically feature well-known music from movie soundtracks, TV shows, video games, and other popular songs. During their July 13, 2023, concert, they will have a unique "youth" trumpet soloist named Ryo Morita.

Ryo recently graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and will attend the Julliard School of Music in New York this fall, and she will perform the Fantasie Brillante by Jean Baptiste Arban. She will also join City Band trumpeters Madeline Gabka and Niana Hughley to perform Leroy Anderson's Bugler's Holiday.
