A new documentary film about political corruption in Chicago and throughout Illinois will be screened at The Crystal Theatre in July.
"Lincoln is Crying: The Grifters, Grafters, and Governors of Illinois" is a "scathing indictment of political corruption in Illinois...and it's funny, too." The film was put together by the team of Director John Davies and Executive Producers Dave Truitt and Brian Kallies, and the story is told by journalists, authors, entertainers, and more. It is currently available as a one-hour censored version on WNMU-TV and the PBS Passport, but the screening at The Crystal Theatre will be the 4K, 86-minute uncensored version.
The film is narrated by James Todd Lincoln, the fictional great, great-great-grandson of President Abraham Lincoln (actually the voice of comedic actor David Pasquesi, of Veep, Book of Boba Fett, and At Home With Amy Sedaris). James Todd takes us through stories of political corruption large and small across Illinois.
Kurt Hauswirth spoke with filmmaker Brian Kallies by phone to learn more about the documentary:
