An interview with curator Jacob Darner

Marquette has a special relationship with Higashiomi, Japan; they are sister cities. 45 years later, a new art exhibit will celebrate that relationship.

"Japanese Treasures" is the name of an exhibit that celebrates the 45th anniversary of the sisterhood between Marquette and Higashiomi, with art, artifacts, and memories from the private collection of Marquette Area Sister City Partnership members. The exhibit will be displayed in August at Wintergreen Hill Gallery on Third Street in Marquette, with an opening reception on Wednesday, July 31st. Jacob Darner curates the exhibit.

Kurt Hauswirth chatted with Jacob before the exhibit's opening:

The opening reception occurs on Wednesday, July 31st, starting at 1:30 p.m. Delegates from Higashiomi will be present for part of the reception.

Visit the Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership web page or the Facebook event page for more information.
