ESCANABA, MI-- A Rapid River woman has been sentenced for causing an accident that severely injured a Gladstone woman.
Audrey Jo Hutchinson, 34, was accused of driving the wrong direction on US2/41 & M-35 in December of 2017 and hitting another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle, Hannah Delaire, was 19 at the time of the crash. She was airlifted to a hospital in Green Bay for treatment of her injuries.
Escanaba Public Safety officers saw empty beer cans and bottles in Hutchinson’s pickup truck. Lab results indicate she had a blood alcohol content of .207. Results also showed marijuana, amphetamine, benzodiazepine, and cocaine in Hutchinson’s blood at the time of the crash.
Hutchinson was sentenced to 38 months to 10 years for operating with high BAC causing serious injury with a prior conviction. It’s the maximum amount of time allowed under Michigan’s sentencing guidelines.
