ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK-- Officials are delaying the opening of Isle Royale National Park this year.
In response to guidance from the state and the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, the opening date has changed from April 16 to June 15. Isle Royale, its surrounding islands, and all visitor facilities will be closed to visitors until June 15. Lake Superior waters remain open.
Right now the Houghton Visitor Center is set to open May 18 for trip planning. A further delay in opening the center and the park depends on COVID-19 developments.
Anyone who has paid for ferry reservations or entrance fees during the affected closure dates will receive a full refund.
