MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Emergency Management Office, several township officials and NMU Public Safety have shelter sites on standby if there are extended power outages during the upcoming storm.

They are as follows:

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Emergency Management Office and Marquette County Central Dispatch are encouraging Marquette County residents to sign up for Smart911.

The system allows people to complete a family safety profile that’s used if and when they call 911.

Central Dispatch Manager Gary Johnson says, “Residents can also opt in the system to receive alerts regarding severe weather.” The service is free.

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Emergency Management Office and American Red Cross have set up two warming shelters due to power outages caused by freezing rain and downed trees.

The locations are as follows:

Chocolay Township Fire Hall (Red Cross will be there overnight)

5010 US-41

Marquette

Ishpeming Township Hall (Fire Volunteers will be there until 9 p.m.)

1575 US-41

Ishpeming

MARQUETTE, MI--   Sawyer International Airport and emergency management and response agencies are conducting a full-scale exercise at the airport Saturday. 

Teresa Schwalbach is the Marquette County Emergency Management Coordinator. She says the exercise allows emergency response agencies to learn what to do if something happens by testing communications, mutual aid, and emergency response procedures.

The exercise will take place at two locations—physically at the airport and virtually at UPHS-Marquette. Volunteer patients will be present at Sawyer only.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette County Emergency Management officials are holding a disaster exercise  in conjunction with Sawyer International Airport and two hospitals on Saturday.  

Officials say the Emergency Response Full Scale Exercise will allow agencies to learn what to do if a disaster happens by testing communications, mutual aid, and emergency response procedures.
