MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette Police Department is looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident in the city Tuesday. 

Around 3:35 p.m. a dark blue or black extended-cab pickup truck collided with a pedestrian at South Front and Genesee streets. It then left the scene before police arrived.

Anyone with information about the truck or its occupants is asked to call City Police at 228-0400 or send a private message.

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MI--   The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident on Drummond Island.

It happened Wednesday morning on Water Street. Deputies found 71-year-old Thomas Gibbons dead in the roadway. Evidence at the scene indicates Gibbons was struck by a vehicle, which fled immediately after the accident. He died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 635-6387 or Chippewa County Central Dispatch at 495-3312.

HARVEY, MI--   The Chocolay Township Police Department is looking for a driver in a hit-and-run incident.

It happened January 21 around 5:45 a.m. at the Holiday Gas Station in Harvey. Officers say a tan SUV backed into a parked vehicle and damaged it. The SUV left the parking lot and headed toward McDonald’s.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Chocolay Township Police at 249-4040. 

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police are looking for the culprit in a vehicle hit-and-run in the city. 

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Division Street Monday around 7 a.m. They say a vehicle legally parked on the street was struck by another vehicle and extensively damaged.

Witnesses say around the time of the accident they saw a light-colored pickup truck, possibly white or silver. The suspect vehicle may have damage to the front passenger side.

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette man is jailed for hitting a car while driving under the influence. 

City Police were dispatched Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. to the 100 block of West Michigan Street on a report that a motorist had struck a parked vehicle. When officers arrived the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and drove through East Marquette. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle, which went through a yard and struck a trailer on the roadside before coming to a stop.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday. 

Officials say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Lakewood Lane. A westbound truck struck a mailbox on the northern side of the road, then crossed and hit a pipeline marker on the southern side of the road.

ISHPEMING, MI--   Ishpeming Police are thanking the public for its help in finding a hit-and-run driver.

The crash happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of Lakeshore and Hematite.  The suspect ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Ishpeming man. The suspect vehicle left behind a headlight and front bumper.

Officers found the suspect—a 20-year-old Ishpeming Township man.  He was issued a misdemeanor citation for failure to stop and identify after an accident. 

His name has not been released.  

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A Negaunee man has been arrested for damaging a concession stand at the Negaunee football field. 

City officers were called to the field Sunday around 12:40 a.m.  A witness said a dark-color pickup truck was observed fleeing the scene after crashing into the stand.  Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Everett Street and took Gerald Potvin, 33, into custody.

ISHPEMING, MI--   Ishpeming Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident in the city. 

Officers say the accident happened Sunday around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Division and First Streets. 

The suspect vehicle—described as a red, early 2000s Subaru Forester—was apparently northbound on First when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.  The suspect vehicle hit a pickup truck and sustained damage to its front end. 

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Ishpeming Police Department at 486-4416.  

UPDATE, 2/24/16:  The Chocolay Township Police Department has identified a suspect in Monday's hit-and-run incident.  Officers say the suspect was developed using tips received from the public.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are looking for the driver in a hit-and-run incident Monday night.

Officers say a pedestrian was in the crosswalk on US-41 near Silver Creek Road between 9:00 and 9:30 when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.  The pedestrian sought her own treatment for minor injuries.
