CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Chocolay Police Department is asking those who may have seen a two-vehicle accident near the Welcome Center Wednesday to contact officers. 

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital following a crash in Chocolay Township Monday morning.

Township Police say it happened at 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Silver Creek Road. Investigation indicates a Ford panel van driven by a L’Anse man was southbound on the highway when he ran a red light. His vehicle struck a Ford passenger car driven by a Lansing woman that was entering the highway from Silver Creek Road.

The L’Anse man was not injured. He was ticketed for failing to stop at a red light.

HARVEY, MI--   No one was injured when a vehicle crashed through the Ace Hardware store in Harvey Wednesday. 

Chocolay Police say it happened around 1:30 p.m. An elderly woman from Skandia accidentally hit the gas and accelerated her vehicle through the doors and into the store.

The driver wasn’t injured and officers say no one was standing near the cash register when the crash happened.

There was moderate damage to shelving units and stock inside the store.

No citations were issued.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Weather is being blamed for a three-vehicle accident in Chocolay Township Monday morning.

Township Police say a vehicle equipped with a plow was northbound on US-41 near Surrey Lane when it crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle then collided with a third, northbound vehicle.

The driver of the third vehicle was taken to UPHS-Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials believe snowy and slippery weather conditions contributed to the crash.

No citations were issued.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are asking for the public’s help in finding some stolen water rescue equipment. 

Recently several items were taken from rescue stations at the first and second turnouts on M-28.  They include an orange and white throw ring marked Property of CTFD in black paint and two water rescue cans, similarly marked.

HARVEY, MI--   The Chocolay Township Police Department is looking for a driver in a hit-and-run incident.

It happened January 21 around 5:45 a.m. at the Holiday Gas Station in Harvey. Officers say a tan SUV backed into a parked vehicle and damaged it. The SUV left the parking lot and headed toward McDonald’s.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Chocolay Township Police at 249-4040. 

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Chocolay Township Police Department is asking the public for its help in identifying a man in a photo. 

Officers are investigating an incident that happened in Harvey sometime either Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Anyone with information regarding the man is asked to call Chocolay Police at 249-4040.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital, following a head-on crash in Chocolay Township.

Chocolay Police responded around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday to M-28 near Lakewood Lane. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. The driver of the westbound vehicle was not injured.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect in a gas-stealing incident. 

It happened September 3 at 6:20 p.m. at the Holiday Station Store in Harvey. Police say a man pumped $45.61 in fuel, entered the store, walked around to the exit, and left without paying.

The man was wearing a black ball cap, sunglasses with blue on the sides, and a red shirt that said “Proudly brewed in Detroit.” He has dark hair and a beard.

The suspect was driving a black Chevy Trailblazer.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday. 

Officials say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Lakewood Lane. A westbound truck struck a mailbox on the northern side of the road, then crossed and hit a pipeline marker on the southern side of the road.
