SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Sault Ste. Marie firefighter is under investigation for assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Sault Ste. Marie man has been arrested for smuggling and selling narcotics.

The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce had been investigating an individual selling crystal meth and heroin in Chippewa County and the Soo. They made several controlled buys.

TRIDENT was notified the suspect drove downstate to secure narcotics. On June 24 the Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle and found about 3.5 grams of heroin on his person. A search warrant executed on the vehicle and the suspect’s home uncovered an ounce of crystal meth valued at $5,000.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A reckless driver caused a fatal crash in Sault Ste. Marie last week.

Thursday around 8 p.m. the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls reporting the erratic driving of a truck in Pickford heading to the Soo on M-129. The driver was speeding, hitting mailboxes and driving into the oncoming lane. At one point threw a tire iron out the window at another vehicle.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Chippewa County man has been arrested in Colorado on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. 

Last year Kinross Police investigated a CSC complaint involving a victim between 13 and 17 years old. The suspect in the case fled the area.

This year the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office investigated another incident with a different victim, who was under 13 years old. Around that time the Sheriff’s Office was informed the suspect—Eric Chambers, 34, of Kincheloe—was living in Colorado under a false name and altered appearance.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force has arrested three people for smuggling and selling narcotics in Chippewa County.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Brimley woman wanted for cutting off her tether while out on bond has been found.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman who cut off her GPS tether.

Fawn Teeple, 39, of Brimley was out on bond for her third arrest for operating while intoxicated, with the condition she must be on a tether. She cut the tether and is now wanted by the Sheriff’s Office on a felony warrant.

Teeple is described as 5’4” and 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call 911 or submit a tip on the Chippewa County Sheriff’s app.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI--   U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge announced that Duane Richard Forrest, age 48, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, was sentenced to a total of 50 years for photographing and videotaping his sexual exploitation of two boys in their early teens. He was also ordered to pay $10,200 in special assessments.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce and Chippewa County Sheriff’s deputies made multiple arrests in Sault Ste. Marie Wednesday. 

Officers stopped a vehicle on Ashmun Street and found the driver, Sean Kirkland, 51, had three warrants out for his arrest. Police executed search warrants on his vehicle and house and found crystal meth, several types of prescription narcotics and money.

Kirkland is charged with delivery-manufacture of meth, five counts of possession of a controlled substance and habitual offender, 3rd degree.
